Grand Canyon, Arizona
Arizona, USA · Best time to visit: March – May & September – November

The Grand Canyon is a massive gorge carved by the Colorado River, famous for its layered bands of red rock and incredible sunsets.
Highlights
- South Rim viewpoints (Mather, Yavapai, Hopi)
- Sunrise and sunset over the canyon
- Walking sections of the Rim Trail
- Stargazing on clear nights
Standing at the Edge
Seeing the Grand Canyon in person is completely different from photos. The scale is hard to process at first—the canyon just keeps going, with ridges and side canyons fading into the distance.
Sunset Over the Canyon
Sunset was the highlight: the rock layers shifted from bright orange to deep red and eventually purple as the light faded. The colors change minute by minute, so it’s worth finding a good spot and just staying put.
Practical Tips
Bring water, sunscreen, and a hat—there isn’t much shade. The main viewpoints can get crowded, so walking a little farther along the Rim Trail often gives you quieter, equally stunning views.
